Greater Baltimore Church of Christ recognizes ETW's Executive Director, Cirron Lanier Greenidge

Romans 13 verse 7 teaches that you “give to everyone what you owe them...if honor, then honor”. The Greater Baltimore Church of Christ (GBCOC) takes great pride in honoring Cirron Greenidge, winner of the 2013 Black Male Engagement (BMe) Initiative Leadership Award. Cirron, a member of GBCOC and founding president of the non-profit “Encouraging The World”, was recognized by BMe for his organization’s community engagement through more than 12 years of work with orphans and indigenous youth.

The BMe awarded 50 men from a pool of 400 small grants totaling $600,000 in 2013. Cirron and “Encouraging the World” were among those recipients.

HIS Desires became MINE.

God placed his dreams on my heart from when I was a child in Junior High School. The desire, to look after orphans and serve the poor. The intense emotions would flood my body in a raging rapid, white water, no rest. I've always had this connection. In a moments thought, his desire is upon me.

God has desires and is using me to gather people all over the world for a purpose of unity and discovery. All the plans are there but, there is something else that is waiting that my eyes and fears start to tear.

I'm out on faith again. I left my job. I haven't settled into Maryland (MD). My room, unfinished, I sleep on the floor on a mat that I enjoy, I eat oatmeal and peanut butter- not on the American diet. I dream of freeing people and flying many places, I don't live on my salary, I saved it for HIS desire.

After I accepted my move to MD. Well, I had no choice. It was meant for me to move here or else I would have been a liar. It was a hard move. As the kidney stones had bleed through my body, I felt like I was being ripped from my hearts desire. I wasn't ready to leave NYC because the teens were my life and ministry to unite. I was being moved, like the kidney stones inside of me, I didn't choose. This was the last of 3 stones that started to pass from my journey in Israel to NYC to MD, and now free of it - I go to the Philippines.

I cried out to not allow my stones to stand in the way of the oatmeal and peanut butter savings. Broken from this news that I had to pay thousands of dollars revealed to me that the oatmeal and peanut butter savings is and was to be used on serving the abandoned and poor who have little to no food.

I cry out as I type because I haven't accomplished what my eyes set out to do. From very young, I told myself, use all your talents to have a million dollar bank account. Do I have one? I do now, to impact on a scale unmeasured because of the sponge God made me. I was told, I was a SPONGE. I have so much, my views have changed, blessed beyond the American dream, we are only a few.

HIS dream became MINE and now it's coming true.

The Center of HOPE worldwide-Laguna - ETW Volunteers in August.

The Center of HOPE worldwide-Laguna, is a treatment center for abused children in the Philippines, specializing in child sexual and physical abuse cases primarily. The center offers short-term and long-term residential care, treatment and placement meeting the holistic needs of each child.

Residential care is primarily conducted through a total family approach wherein each child is given a father and mother (house parents) and brothers and sisters structure. The treatment of each child is being handled by a multi-disciplinary case management team, offering a wide range of skills, including psychological and psychiatric assessment.

The Center of HOPE worldwide-Laguna, has a goal to see an abused child and their families become whole again in which they have attained social functioning in an environment where they interact constructively, have developed a sense of hope and that encourages the child and their families to succeed.

The community-based Centers of HOPE worldwide addresses problems such as child sexual abuse, children on the streets and child neglect. The Centers acts as a safe-harbor for children where trained full-time staffs gain access to at-risk children.

Centers of HOPE worldwide community-based have been in operation since 1996 in several urban poor communities like Baseco, Pier South Manila and Payatas, Quezon City.
